THE COFFEE AND TEA SHOP
Sourced from small-scale growers across Rwanda, SUSA honours their devotion to their crop. We work with organisations of growers, giving us detailed insight into different farming methods and communities, helping to elevate our quality, traceability and impact. When the harvest is ready between February and May, the cherries can be seen blushing a deep cranberry red. Only the boldest red cherries are picked to produce the strongest flavours.
SUSA is committed to sustainable packaging – from our partnership with the African Wildlife Foundation and its projects with gorilla conservation in Rwanda, to working with sustainable packaging solutions that are at the forefront of efforts towards the end of single-use plastics.
Tea is cultivated solely for its leaves. The leaves are collected as many times per year as the plant produces new shoots with leaves. Tea is harvested by hand. Not all of the leaves are picked during harvesting – just the few top young and juicy leaves with a portion of the stem on which they have grown and the so-called bud (or tip) – an unexpanded leaf at the end of the shoot.
